2016 New Year's Day Cruise

What a nice way to kick-off the 2016 New Year!

The Los Angeles Shelby American Automobile Club (LASAAC) sponsored a New Year's Day Cruise on January 1st, 2016, which included a gathering and launch point at Carroll Shelby's HQ in Gardena, California.

The Carroll Shelby Store was also open, which of course enabled everyone to pick up a late Christmas present or three in the form of Shelby merchandise.

We had a pretty good crowd and variety of cars for the cruise.

We left Carroll's place and headed for a lap and a few stops around the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

From Gardena, we traveled to Palos Verdes Drive North, through Rolling Hills Estates, the home of a lot of three-rail fence (behind which are horse trails).

First stop was above the cliffs in Palos Verdes Estates, along Paseo del Mar.

As expected, the weather was Southern California perfect!

And now, the cruise group is rolling on Paseo del Mar and the Pacific Ocean headed to PV Drive West and PV Drive South, on our way to White Point...

The next stop along the Tour was White Point, which is a park on the Pacific Ocean, and a favorite surfing spot. This was the tour group arriving...

As you can see, White Point is at sea level!

Honorary Cruise Directors...

After White Point, the Cruise Crew went on to San Pedro for a tour of the Battleship Iowa and lunch. I had to run, so I headed for the PV hills, PV Drive East, and home.

Yep, that's Catalina Island!
